Helping Children in Nepal

I have recently returned from Nepal, where I lived with a local family in a rural village called “Thecho”, 12km South of Katmandu.

I took up some volunteer teaching at a makeshift teaching facility for children, whose parents can’t afford to send them to school.

What was meant to be a lighthearted fun experience, ended up teaching me a few lessons about living in poverty? About 80% of Nepalese are farmers and half the people are jobless. The average income is less than $200(USD) a year. The future for these beautiful children is quite grim. Most of their parents approximately 50% of the population are illiterate; therefore their parents can’t even help in trying to educate them. To work with children as old as six, who have never held a fork, let alone a pencil was an eye opener!.

john-162.jpgThese kids needed to get into a proper school as they were already far behind, so I’ve made it my goal to help out as many as I can. During my time there, I sponsored two girls named “Menuka” and “Chandrawati”and sent them off to school.

It was their first day of school and a moment they and their families thought would never happen. Their fathers were holding back the tears, and shook my hand that hard it almost fell off! Nepal is home to Mt.Everest (the highest mountain in the world) and to me it symbolizes the hurdle between these children and them getting an education, unless someone lends a helping hand. I would be very grateful if you’d consider supporting my efforts through sponsoring a child. For less than 2 Pound Sterling/ $ 4 (USD) and $ 5(Aus) per week, you can give a child the best gift they’ll receive “An Education”. Creating endless possibilities and a bright future of hope. You will live with the knowledge that you will be changing  someone’s life forever.

-You will receive an annual photo of the child.

-We will make arrangements for them to receive a photo of you.

-Correspondence from the child every 6 months.

-A thankful child to visit, if you get the opportunity to visit this country of natural wonder and kindhearted people.

* The annual contribution is: 100 Pound Sterling/ $200(U.S.)/ $250(Aus) and covers all fees, books and uniforms.

* Simply advise me and I can organize things immediately. If there’s a particular child you’d like to sponsor, mention their name when replying or ask for the one I feel needs most help.

*Thanks for listening to the call for help. If you would like to proceed with sponsorship or have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me on the email address below.
